Straight-Pull Rifle Optics, explained.
Nothing on this page is a special part. A straight-pull AR-15 carries the same flat-top upper, the same Picatinny rail and the same optic footprints as any other AR-pattern rifle, so every mount, riser and ring that fits one fits the other. What changes is the order in which you weigh things up. There is no self-loading cycle to ride out and no need to keep a dot tracking through recoil, because the shot is followed by working the handle by hand — so the qualities that separate one optic from another here are the ones that show up in a deliberate shot: how well the glass resolves at distance, whether the reticle gives you a usable hold rather than a single dot, and how repeatably the mount returns to zero.
That pushes most straight-pull builds towards a low power variable or a prism scope rather than a plain dot. A 1-6x or 1-8x covers a course of fire that runs from close targets to several hundred metres without a change of optic, and a bullet drop reticle saves dialling between distances; a fixed 3X or 5X prism is lighter, shorter and has an etched reticle that stays usable with the illumination off. Mount height deserves more thought than usual, because a taller mount lifts your head clear and gives the working hand room over the receiver, while a lower one keeps the sight picture close to your irons. Which one do you need? Read the straight-pull AR-15 parts guide and the practical rifle straight-pull setup, then set the height with the optic mount height guide.
