The EOTech HHS VIII is a Holographic Hybrid Sight System: one part number covering an EXPS3-0 holographic weapon sight and a G33 3x magnifier, bought as a set rather than as two separate optics.
This is the single-dot member of the family. Inside the 68 MOA ring there is one 1 MOA aiming point and nothing else, with 3x folded away on a flip-to-side mount until something at distance needs identifying.
The EXPS3-0 draws its red reticle at 1x and takes its power from a CR123 lithium cell. Twenty daylight brightness settings are available and the sight is night-vision compatible, though EOTech do not publish how many night-vision levels sit below the daylight range, so no count is quoted here. The G33 gives 3x through a flip-to-side quick-detach mount that swings clear without tools, and both housings are sealed to 10 m (33 ft). EOTech build the holographic sight in the USA and assemble the magnifier there.
A hybrid kit suits a rifle that has to work close and then reach out again: swing the magnifier in for target identification, swing it out and the sight is a plain 1x again. Two honest points before ordering. A magnifier adds real weight and length behind the sight, so a rifle set up this way carries more on the rail than one running the sight alone. And EOTech now catalogue the HHS VIII as a single configuration in Tan under the code HHS VIII TAN, with no black part number listed anywhere in their range, so the finish quoted below follows EOTech rather than the older description.
Both optics are rail-mounted and sit in line, so the rifle needs enough rail behind the sight for the magnifier and its swing arm to sit square.
