The SIG Sauer ROMEO8H is a 1x enclosed red dot sight with a 38 mm clear aperture and a selectable Ballistic Circle Dot reticle built around a 2 MOA red dot.
The 38 mm window is the whole argument for a ROMEO8 over a micro dot: a wide, uncluttered view that the eye finds immediately when the rifle comes up in a hurry.
The housing is 6061-T6 aluminium, waterproof to IPX-7 and fog-proof, measuring 90.9 x 56.13 x 64.5 mm at 11.3 oz, with a stated mount height of 1.535 in. Power is a single CR123A rated at 50,000 hours, and MOTAC brings the reticle up when it senses movement and shuts it down when the rifle is left alone.
Illumination covers 10 daytime settings and 2 for night vision, and the turrets move 0.5 MOA per click with 100 MOA of total travel in both windage and elevation. The trade is plain enough: at 11.3 oz this is a heavy sight by red dot standards, and the sealed housing that keeps rain off the emitter is exactly where that weight has gone.
It mounts on a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail at SIG's stated 1.535 in height, which puts it in AR-pattern flat-top, straight-pull and railed shotgun territory. If you want a titanium shroud and a magnifier in the same box, the ROMEO8T-AMR and JULIET3T-AMR kit is the step up, and the ROMEO8T in black is the closest single-optic alternative. Others sit in enclosed red dot sights.
