The EOTech EXPS3-4 is a 1x holographic weapon sight built around a 68 MOA ring, and its -4 reticle is EOTech's ballistic pattern for 5.56 NATO and .223 firing 62gr M855.
A ballistic holographic reticle does the arithmetic on the glass, so the shooter changes aiming reference rather than turret setting when the target moves out.
Windage and elevation move in 0.5 MOA clicks, and the sight runs a single CR123 lithium cell, which EOTech rates at 1,000 hours at brightness setting 12. Illumination covers 20 daylight settings and 10 for use behind night vision. The housing measures 3.8 x 2.3 x 2.9 in, weighs approximately 11.2 oz (318 g), carries an integrated quick-detach lever for 1in Weaver and MIL-STD-1913 rails, and is waterproof to 33 ft (10 m). It is made in the USA.
It suits the shooter who works several known distances on one course of fire and would rather hold than dial, and the raised base clears an in-line magnifier if you want reach behind it. Two honest limits: the ballistic reticle is drawn around a specific 5.56 load, so a different bullet weight will not track it exactly, and EOTech does not publish a total windage and elevation travel figure for this model.
The quick-detach lever goes straight onto a Picatinny or 1in Weaver rail, so an AR-pattern flat-top or a straight-pull receiver rail takes it without an adapter. If you want a single aiming point instead of a ballistic pattern, the EXPS3-0 is the one-dot sight in the same housing and the EXPS3-2 the two-dot version.
