The Holosun ARO EVO Gold Dot Sight, part number ARO-EVO-GD-2, is a 1x enclosed rifle sight with a single 2 MOA gold dot behind a 26 mm (1.02 in) window.
Gold sits between red and green on the spectrum at 590nm, and it earns its place on a bright day against a washed-out background, where a red dot can sink into the target and a green one can look harsh.
The housing is 6061 aluminium, hard anodised, rated IPX8 and tested to 1000G, and the optic weighs 4.3 oz. Power is a CR2032 in a side-loading tray backed by Solar Failsafe, which Holosun rate at 50,000 hours at setting 6, with Shake Awake, auto-brightness and a lockout mode on top. Adjustments move in 0.5 MOA clicks with ±50 MOA of travel. Both mounts are in the box: a 1.63in lower 1/3 co-witness mount and a 1.05in low mount.
An enclosed emitter is the sensible choice for a rifle that lives outdoors, because rain, mud and grass seed cannot settle in front of the LED and dim the dot. The 26 mm window is generous enough for fast target pick-up on practical rifle and shotgun stages, and the four night-vision settings mean it will sit behind an intensifier without blooming. The single limitation worth naming is the reticle: there is no circle and no reticle switching, so if you want a 32 MOA ring to catch the eye, this is not the ARO EVO to pick.
With either supplied mount it goes straight onto a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, which covers AR-pattern carbines, straight-pull rifles and railed shotguns. The same sight in other emitter colours is the ARO EVO Red and the ARO EVO Green; for a ranging reticle in the same housing see the ARO EVO SPR Gold. Browse all gold dot sights.
