The SIG Sauer ROMEO8T-AMR is a 1x rifle red dot sight with a 40 mm objective and the Quad Ballistic Circle Dot 2.0 reticle in red, part number SOR8T101.
Forty millimetres of objective is a great deal of window for a red dot, and it is the reason this sight feels closer to looking through a frame than down a tube.
It weighs 9.5 oz, mounts to an M1913 rail with the hardware supplied, and runs from a single CR123 cell rated at up to 50,000 hours with MOTAC motion activation waking the reticle on movement. The housing is sealed to IPX-8 and tested to MIL-STD-810.
The Quad Ballistic Circle Dot 2.0 reticle is SIG's automatic modified reticle pattern, and SIG groups the ROMEO8T-AMR with its magnifier systems, so it is built for a rifle that will spend part of its life at 1x and part behind a 3x. That is the case for buying it rather than a plain micro dot; against that, this is a full-size sight with a full-size sight's weight, and it wants a rail with room ahead of it if a magnifier is going behind.
It clamps to an M1913 Picatinny rail, so it suits flat-top AR-pattern receivers, straight-pull uppers and practical shotguns with a rail section. The matched magnifier package is the ROMEO8T-AMR and JULIET3T-AMR combo kit, the standard sight in the same family is the ROMEO8T, and comparable optics sit in enclosed red dot sights.
