The EOTech XPS2-0TAN is a 1x holographic weapon sight in a tan housing, showing a 68 MOA ring with a single 1 MOA red dot.
Short body, one cell, daylight only. The CR123 lies across the back of the XPS rather than down its length, which is why the sight takes so little rail and leaves room behind it for a magnifier.
Twenty daylight brightness settings cover everything from a dull morning to snow glare, and the battery is rated at up to 1,000 hours. The sight clamps to a 1in Weaver or Picatinny rail on a cross-bolt fixing, weighs 9.0 oz (255 g) and is made in the USA. The finish is tan.
It is a straightforward choice for Civilian Service Rifle, practical rifle and practical shotgun work, where both eyes stay open and the ring does the coarse aiming while the dot does the fine. The limitation is stated plainly: there are no night-vision settings on an XPS2, and EOTech's night-vision capable holographic sights are the XPS3 range. Worth adding that EOTech's present XPS2 line-up offers tan as the two-dot XPS2-2TAN and as the green-reticle XPS2-0TANGRN, so a tan housing with the red single-dot reticle is not a combination they currently catalogue.
Anything carrying a 1in Weaver or Picatinny rail with a clear stretch for the cross-bolt clamp, which covers flat-top AR-pattern receivers, straight-pull carbines and railed shotguns. Its short body is the reason to choose it if a 3x unit is going in behind, and the red dot magnifiers collection holds those.
