The SIG Sauer ROMEO5XDR Gen II, part number SOR5X201, is a 1x red dot sight with a 20 mm objective and a dual reticle: a 2 MOA dot inside a 65 MOA circle.
Two things set the XDR apart from a plain ROMEO5. The circle gives a large, fast reference for close targets around a fine dot for precise ones, and the sight runs on a AAA cell rather than a coin cell.
The housing is CNC aluminium rated IPX7, weighing 6.4 oz (181 g), on an integral half-inch hex MIL-STD-1913 mount supplied with two heights. Illumination has 12 settings, 10 for daylight and 2 for night vision, managed by SIG's MOTAC motion activation, and there is 100 MOA of windage and elevation travel. One AAA is rated for up to 50,000 hours.
The AAA is a genuinely practical choice: it is the cell you can find in any village shop, which is not true of every coin cell. The trade is bulk — at 6.4 oz this sits heavier than a CR2032-powered micro dot, and the battery tube adds to the profile. If weight matters more than battery availability, the plain-dot ROMEO5 is the lighter option.
The integral mount clamps to a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, and the two supplied heights cover a flat-top AR or a lower rail on a straight-pull or rimfire. For a plain 2 MOA dot on a coin cell the ROMEO5 Gen II is lighter, the same sight in green is the ROMEO5 Gen II green, and a matched sight and magnifier is the ROMEO5 Gen II and JULIET3 Micro combo.
