The Streamlight TLR-1 HP in black is a rail-mounted weapon light that concentrates 1000 lumens into 65,000 candela, giving a beam distance of around 510 metres.
Lumens tell you how much light there is; candela tells you how far it goes. This one is built entirely around the second number.
A deep parabolic reflector does the focusing, in an anodised aluminium housing rated IPX7 that is 3.39 in (8.61 cm) long and weighs 4.32 oz (122.5 g). Two CR123A lithium cells are supplied and give 1.75 hours of runtime, and rail locating keys come in the box for the tool-less clamp.
That clamp fits handgun and long-gun rails alike and comes off without tools, so the light moves between hosts easily. Understand what the beam is, though: it is a tight hotspot for identifying something a long way off, not the wide wash of light the flood-oriented TLR-1 HL throws for close work.
It clamps to a rail-equipped handgun or a long gun, with the locating keys in the box covering the common rail patterns. The same light in tan is the TLR-1 HP in Flat Dark Earth, the rifle-ready package is the TLR-1 HP Long Gun Kit, and the rechargeable step up is in rechargeable weapon lights.
