The Primary Arms SLx 3X MicroPrism, part number 710036, is a fixed 3x prism scope with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard reticle etched into the glass and illuminated in red.
A prism scope solves something a red dot cannot. The aiming point is cut into glass and viewed through the scope's own focusing system, so an eye with astigmatism sees a reticle rather than a smeared comet of LED light.
It weighs 7.95 oz and is finished in black, with exposed low-profile turrets adjustable with a tool, 1/4 MOA per click and 80 MOA of travel in both windage and elevation. The view gives 38 ft of field at 100 yards (12.7 m at 100 m), 2.70 in (69 mm) of eye relief and a 7.4 mm exit pupil. Illumination runs 13 settings, three of them night-vision compatible, from a CR2032, and AutoLive shuts the emitter down when the rifle is left still.
The ACSS Raptor does more than mark the centre: a chevron for the precise hold, bullet drop holdovers so distance is aimed off rather than dialled, ranging stadia and wind marks, laid out in yards for 5.56 and .308. Because it is etched, it still works with the illumination off or the cell flat. The trade against an LPVO is that 3x is all you get, and against a red dot that there is a defined eye box to find. It mounts on the Primary Arms MicroPrism and Trijicon Mini-ACOG footprint.
It uses the Primary Arms MicroPrism and Trijicon Mini-ACOG mounting footprint, which puts it on a Picatinny flat-top.
