About this range

Weapon Lights, explained.

The three brands pull in different directions. Streamlight covers the broadest spread of handgun fits and offers much of its range with an integrated laser or a rechargeable cell. SureFire builds around the Scout Light Pro for long guns and the X300 for pistols, and sells its tailcaps, remote switches and rear caps separately so a light can be configured after purchase. Holosun's P.ID and RAID heads chase reach, quoting candela figures well above typical pistol lights. Choose in that order: fit the mount first — a Glock-pattern or 1913 pistol rail, or M-LOK and Picatinny on a handguard — because a light that will not clamp to your rail is no use whatever it puts out.

Then judge output honestly. Lumens measure total light and matter most at room distance; candela measures beam intensity and decides how far you can actually identify something, so a tight high-candela head reaches across open ground while a broad flood is easier to use up close. Finally pick your control method: an ambidextrous paddle sat under the trigger guard on a pistol light, a click or momentary tailcap on a rifle light, or a remote pressure pad routed along the handguard. Which one do you need? Start with lumens vs candela explained, then choosing a weapon light.
